Become Your own bank

How do we see insurance differently?  Despite the name, it isn't about bottles.  It is about exploring new ways to make insurance work for you.  Here is my story:

I contacted the BYOB agent, Eddie Ward, and we set up an appointment for a policy review.  I was expecting to talk about numbers, plans, and goals and then adjust my current coverage to match my needs and goals. Important stuff but not super exciting (apologies to insurance agents).  

Imagine my surprise when after reviewing the numbers, Eddie shared with me an insurance product that I had never heard of - Index Universal Life.  An IUL would allow me to save money, collect interest, and use it as I see fit if I need some extra cash - without penalties.  He said, "You can become your own bank!"  BYOB!  I found the concept very interesting.  

Have you heard the same thing over and over when talking to your elders about life strategies? They wish they had saved more earlier.  Set aside plans for bigger houses or fancier cars to save money at a young age then they could have retired years earlier or used their money in better ways.  An IUL went to the top of my list to add to my insurance coverage.

How does my story end?  Well, you read about it in the news - celebrities that discover products or companies that they believe in and become a spokesperson.  I am not a celebrity or a spokesperson.  I joined Eddie at BYOB.   “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.”  - Maya Angelou.  Eddie showed me a way to do better.  Now I am passionate about getting the message out to others so they have the opportunity to do better as well.
